Ambitious day hikes, such as the entire length of Zion's West Rim Trail or the Pacific Crest Trail portion of Mount Rainier National Park, require lightweight, sturdy footwear such as the Vasque Women's Breeze Low XCR Hiking Shoe. Whether your feet overheat easily or start to feel pounded as the miles stack up, this amazing light hiker is fully equipped to treat your feet with special care. The Gore-Tex® liner is both waterproof and breathable, keeping you comfortable on cool, damp days and hot, dry days. On the outside a combination of waterproof nubuck leather and breathable airmesh help to keep the feet dry and comfortable. From underneath, the Vasque Breeze Low XCR Hiking Shoe for women combines an engineered midsole, thermoplastic urethane torsion plate, and Vibram® Contact outsole into an integrated system that protects from sharp objects, fatigue, and soreness. The padded tongue and collar form a pillow of sorts around your ankle and instep, contributing to the first class treatment your feet receive as they traverse spectacular ridges and wind through shaded forests. The dual density EVA footbed offers additional cushioning and arch support. It's removable just in case you want to substitute it with your own orthotic or insole.

Dora Bixler - 2007-05-03Have a simular pair with Virbram sole I was in Hawaii and desperate for a new pair of Hiking shoes and got lucky. I have a wide front foot and these also gave my toes room to breath with a high toe box. Arch support is great. I got a size 6 which is same size I'd buy in a sneaker. Try on with your hiking socks. These saved my trip as we hiked 5 days straight. This picture is slightly different then mine, but good luck. Thank goodness for free returns but you will like these.
